In 2024, Alain Benesty produced “Endavant tà l’escola!”, a bilingual documentary about the Calandreta André Minvielle school in Lys, in the Ossau Valley, with the collaboration of the team, including Myriam Monthelie, a helper teacher (trainer) at Aprene. This immersive bilingual school is depicted in various aspects of its life, from the smallest details of the daily life of a group of children of all ages to its integration into the life of a village, within the intergenerational flow that shapes, reshapes, and sometimes redefines what constitutes the culture and language of a community. The school, or the class group, develops its own culture, its shared language, but it is also immersed, woven, into the community of a village, of a history. How does this school universe integrate into a broader, shared universe? This is where Occitan reveals itself in its dual dimension: as a language within a culture, a country, a history, and as a tone, a language, an institution of the multilingual cooperative class.
