La Cimade
Jean-Philippe Turpin presents the CADA and Cimade center in Béziers, the only city where the two institutions are merged. CADA (Centre for Asylum Seekers) is a public institution tied to state policies,Cimade (Inter-Movement Committee for Aid to Evacuees) is an activist association defending the rights of migrants. How can one offer a place where people, in safety, can prepare for the challenges of the administrative asylum process? This center offers holistic support, embracing daily life, family, and the ordinary, in order to counter lives suspended in waiting—especially for children. An openness to the neighborhood, the city, and the schools turns it into a space of socialization for everyone. The activist dimension works to advance rights and fight against national detention policies and international segregation practices—**while always remaining rooted in real-life settings and concrete practices**.
