Through Yeti’s eyes: cultivating respect for the ‘other’ in education

The author presents in a concise and simple way various theoretical approaches to respect for diversity, while giving concrete examples from everyday practice. The thread running through all the chapters of the book is the author’s constant reflection on issues of professional ethics and the dilemmas that arise from them. The message for education professionals is clear. Combating bias in pedagogical practice is not black and white, but everything is played out in subtle nuances. This is precisely why a constant process of self-awareness and self-criticism is required, which can sometimes be painful and exhausting, but at the same time is creative and life-giving.
